How's the Resort?
Down but not out!
Sierra Blanca Cabins has weathered a difficult year. After last summer’s fires and flooding, we were grateful that much of the property was spared. However, on July 8 of this year, severe flooding impacted us again—especially our Riverside Adobe Retreat, the pond, shop, and some lower cabins (though those sustained no structural damage).
The landscape along our three acres of the Rio Ruidoso has changed, and restoration is ongoing. Still, the peaceful pines, wildlife, and mountain charm that our guests know and love remain.
We have officially reopened five cabins as of October 1. We appreciate your patience, support, and love for this special place—and we’re committed to bringing it back, more beautiful than ever.

Important Note for guests visiting mid-June to mid-September: If you're visiting during monsoon season, please stay aware of changing weather conditions. Due to recent fire burn scars, heavy rains can lead to sudden flooding in low-lying areas of Ruidoso. Sometimes, it may be as simple as planning which side of the river to be on for a few hours if water levels rise temporarily. These landscapes will take time to heal, and your awareness helps protect both you and the area. Don’t hesitate to ask questions—just a little local knowledge can go a long way toward making your visit to our beloved town both safe and magical.
